Uninstalling IFS lift couple Q's...

I just recently replaced my operating system so I lost a lot of things i could find in a search... Can't download an FSM, and can't view it if I did. Also can' t see any PDF's.

I have a Chiltons but can't find a front suspension breakdown...

86 IFS, took the spacer junk off and putting it back piece by piece.

1: Almost all the dust boots for the ball joints are damaged... Can you get them separate? Or only with the joint?

2: I don't even know what the bottom lower control arm bolts are called, but how do they go back in? I'm assuming you level the control arm and put the washer at 0...?

They're for the alignment, right?

I thought they were "eccentric" and as you turned them they would move the LCA in or out... But they just look like bolts?

EDIT: Or is the round washers being trapped in the recesses then you turn the bolt, that moves the LCA in and out?

1: I've never found the boots separate, gotta buy the whole thing.

2: Correct, those bolts are for alignment. Starting at the zero will get it going but an alignment is necessary.

You can buy a boot kit to replace the boots and re-grease the joint but if the boot has been broken for a long time the joint is most likely damaged and need to be raplaced anyway.
