Since I've gone lpg, I have a 120litre tank under the car rear and the spare wheel is being played with by the kids in the garden (they've named it Turby and include "him" in all their games, lol).

Anyway, I either need to hook up with a rear wheel mount or else get some of that ultra-seal stuff put into the wheels.

Any opinions on which?

If I go ultra-seal, should I just carry a can or get all 4 wheels done?

If I go wheel carrier, should I get a swing out thing or one of those things that you guys all seem to have in your pics (rhetorical question!)? What are those things you guys have and how is access to the tailgate achieved with them? Is it the "slee" thing? If so, are they available in the UK and do I have to go for a slee bumper too?

Btw - lpg 39p / litre in the UK while unleaded is 97p!

`Slee' rear bumpers are by Christo Slee and are a prerequisit for the rear tire carriers on the LC100 (sorry to chime here Christo). Slee is out of Golden, Colorado in the States. I'm sure you could purchase one and get it shipped over on the ``slow boat'' but I'm sure that may be cost prohibitive

Spray cans and other repair kits are useful for a small puncture, but they won't help you in case you get a larger hole or a sidewall cut. Unless you always drive on the road and towing services are readily available, I wouldn't risk driving without a spare wheel. Besides, doesn't this stuff obstruct the tire valve? This would leave you without the possibility to adjust the tire pressure, I think.

I would also advise against using the "spray can." However, using a tire plug kit is acceptable until you can have a shop put a tire patch (from the inside of the tire). But still, like Dandon said, many repairs go beyond the use of any patch or plug.

Other options include mounting the tire inside securely like this. Slee does not make such a bar for the 100 series. You'd need to get a local fabricator to do the job. Besides taking up space, another downside is the tire smell inside the cabin. A tire cover can help alleviate that.

There are several other rear bumper/tire carriers beside Slee that might be more available in your area. Check out TJM, ARB, and Kaymar.

Christo's bumper/tire carrier is pretty much the most stout but his bumper may be ruled out due to shipping, but it's definitely worth looking into. www.sleeoffroad.com

TJM and ARB both have distributors on your side of the ocean that can get you their rear bumpers probably with significant reductions in shipping. I don't really know if Kaymar has one or not.

The only problem with the Slee rear end (besides the shipping) would be that I don't think his hitch is rated, and this may be a hassle/insurance risk if you want to tow?
