Crazy, my house needed the AC on. I just got out of winter and today the temps hit 27 C in Smithers. Almost 30 I think..... but the internet says 27. Tomorrow the forecast is 30.

I've only cut the lawn once this year..... like man the snow just left!

The mountains up here are covered in snow still, the floods are going to be bad.

My house is high and dry but I can see the bridges getting washed out.

How hot is down south?

Today I took the family out in our new to us canoe on a little lake. After lunch I took out the fishing boat for a little cruise on a different lake. So me and kidlets are looking a little red :)

only thing I like to do in hot weather is drink beer :) kinda nice to do that on a boat too. Responsibly that is......

Now we got massive flooding from the heat followed by a week of rain.

Expected power outages an all....... crazy life here now :)

It has cooled down quite a bit here in Abby with light rain. I tried to get down to the river this morning here by the Mission bridge. However, the road was closed off and had a long line of dump trucks heading in. Hmmm? Just last night in the local papers they were saying that everything was prepared. Do you think we aren't getting the whole story?

Spoke with a guy who's family has lived on Matsqui Prarie for many years and he said the problem probably will not be with the dikes but with the water pressure and seepage. Apparently most of the water on the praries down here is from seepage, springs and undergound creeks from the river. The more water pressure from the river the more water that comes from underneath is what he told me. His concern is that the pumping stations in the valley and in places like delta and Richmond will not be able to keep up with the volume of water coming through the ground.

Warmer temps and more rain is in the forecast. Just hope it is light and doesn't add to the volume of water headed our way. I remember the flood of 1972 in Princeton when both rivers there. People lost everything. The only good that came out of it wa the free fish to be had when the water finally began to reside. Again in that flood a lot of water came in through an undergound creek that ran under the post office.

High and dry in Abby, John
