Gary T & Bill W went up past Merritt to Tupper Lake this past weekend.
A pretty good weekend; pretty much EVERY kind of weather.
Saturday was sunny on the way up to the B.C. interior, with some showers and
rainbows. That afternoon, at beautiful Tupper Lake, above Merritt, it was
sunny but extremely windy while we were setting up camp. Things blowing all
over the place. In the evening the sky was clear and we lay on picnic table
looking at the stars and roasted weenies and steaks on the fire. As we
turned in for the night, a chilly light rain blew in and started falling but
nothing worrisome. At 1:00 a.m. I got up to take a leak and there was half
an inch of snow on the ground. No worry, back to sleep. At 4:00 a.m. I got
a cramp in my leg so I got up and went for a walk -- WOW, 4 inches of
squeaky snow! I had to get under the tarp and raise it to dump snow and keep
it from caving in on top of the tent. Two sleeping bags and all clothing in
there including long johns Later, in the morning, when I got up, it was very
cold with icicles on the Cruiser and doors almost frozen shut. I managed to
get a campfire going and we finally got out of there by 10:30 and it was
still snowing. Heading back there was snow flying in all directions from
the Land Cruiser tires, what a hoot and I have a few pictures that I will
send out later later. Coming home was fun in the snow, and later on down at
the lower elevations I was going pretty fast and the icicles and chunks of
bigger ice were melting and flying off and I was afraid my windshield would
get cracked. Down in the Fraser Valley it was sunny and mild. WHAT A
WEEKEND!! Yahoo!!
