Have a relative with a 1991 1HD-T that he is looking to have removed, rebuilt & replaced.
The $100,000 question is, WHERE?
Who in the lower mainland do you trust to do the job correctly and who also stands behind their work?
I don't really want to hear about price, unless it borders on stupid, more interested in quality.
Thanks guys, Vince B

Yeah, I think they did 4 or 5 HDTs last year alone...

I would think if none of the obvious capable members aren't into it that I'd be thinking of a shop that's actually done them ,then narrow it down from there. I used to do all my own work but pretty much sub out to ateb and ebi now. Ateb actually refreshed my motor some time back still running and as far as standing by there work , I couldn't be happier.

Should be someone around the Kootneys too. Use to be a ton of the Toyota JDM vans there and now lots of Delicas, both of which can have significant top end issues climbing long mountain passes if not maintained and driven properly.

I 'll ask a friend in Nelson. But they probably will not have the experience that our local shops at the Coast have with rebuilding a Toyota diesel.

lots of shops and people can do a re&re
I'd be very concerned about the quality of parts and the machine shop that is being used to do the actual engine work and assemble
we're currently doing a 2H. A 12HT is next and then a 3B before the summer

just remember
a crappy head gasket makes for a crappy day!

As for machine shop, I've used Fraser Valley Engine http://www.fraservalleyengines.com/ with good results. Marv has done a bunch of work on Toyota diesels.

I totally agree with Steve about the quality of parts. I've seen the results of poor quality parts and its not pretty...

Thanks for the suggestions guys, pretty much who i had in mind. What he does want is to drop off the truck and pick it up when done, so there is no arguing over who did what and who is responsible for what. I will let him take these options and run with them. Thanks once more. Vince
