While on my way to lunch today I happened to spot a troopy!!

Talked to the owner for a few minutes, exchanged email addresses. :)

Well spotted amigo!!

That looks like a pretty nice one- same colour as my FJ40 LX-colour code 6L4 for anyone interested. Don't suppose you happened to get his VIN number off him...:D Judging by the peeling paint and munched fender/guard, I'd say he is still working on the RHD thing?

I am SO looking forward to moving back to the US with all of the troopies living there now. (This is not one of the reasons I give my wife for moving back, I might add) In all the years that I had Patches in the US (1997-present), I never 'came across' another troopy on the road. I had a few friends with them, but never a random spotting- very cool. Were you in your rig?

Cheers

Actually he was hit in the front a few weeks back, and since he uses it for his work truck can;t afford to take it off the road to fix it...

I though about getting his VIN, but that was when i was eating my lunch... figured if i had poped his hood and grabbed it he might have said something....

I tired to go back and get it, but he had left to go to his next job.

The color is off on my pictures. it is actually mustard. crappy cell phone camera. :(

I hope i get an email back from him today and i'll ask for his vin.... but now i am excited and want my troopy!!

40 to 40 sightings are rare enough, I cant imagine a troopie to troopie. I know of at least 10 troopies here in New England and know their owners, but still no random sighting.

too many paths that don't cross

I saw tedd's once driving down 16

I pulled into one of my favorite taco joints in town (Driving the 45) and pulled up and parked right next to a Troopy. What are the odds. We had a good talk and enjoyed lunch. He said he wasn't big on forums and didn't get on them too much.

Sighting's are always cool.

You can always look up front on the frame, no need to pop the hood, VIN HJ47 000152;
Model HJ47- KCQ Color 532 Trim LM11 3980 cc September 1980

Thank you all for the welcome.

Met with a friend today who will help with with my rocker panel repair. I have new door, fender etc to bring it back to life. Any ideas on Air Filter Housings?

Welcome Seattlemobile,

You are on the registry. I have a Donaldson air cleaner on my troopy, but I don't think I would have bought it separately- they put it on mine when I had it turbo charged.

Cheers,

Josh
