Hi guys,

my name is Sascha I'm 23 years old and proud owner of a 2002 Troopy (HZJ78) with 1HZ N/A.
Since I picked up bad fuel at normanton (just main fueltank).
As I replaced both fuel filters, I found a installed filter for the turbo (done during service at Darwin)

I have a rattling around 1600-2100 revs and can't reach more than 90km/h with the main tank.
No speed problems with the subtank.

Today I tried to remove the maintank to have a look at the intank filter/strainer (there a filter or not), before I spend $850 on injectores, but the tank get stuck and I couldn't remove it...
What is the trick to remove the tank?
Btw, I had disconnected the delivery and overflow pipe.

Futhermore, I'm looking for a toyota/workshop manual. Couldn't find one on daemon4x4.

Thanks a lot!

Sascha

I removed my main tank out the other week to install a larger fuel pump,

I think there are 3small hoses to remove on the passengers side and 3 plugs i had two as i dont have a sub tank, the filler hose and its breather.
I didnt have the cruiser on a hoist when doing it so the angel on the tail shaft got in the way i did try but no luck so i had to remove the tail shaft by 8 tvery tight bolts, maybe on a hoist the rear tail shaft and diff would drop down enough to slide the tank over.

put a block of wood on a trolley jack and "take the weight of the tank" undo the two tank strap brackets and bend them right out the way( they will bend back to the tank shape no problems) then lower the trolley jack and the tank will come down.

The less fuel in the tank obviously the easier and lighter to handle

This is the fuel pump i pulled out , im not sure if diesels have a pump or just a filter on the end of the metal fuel line, but it will give you a idea of what to look for, this is out of the passengers side of the tank the drivers side of the tank has the fuel gauge sender
