Done google, searched forums.

I don't intend to run the hard top much at all on the Troopy. Bimini, or Aussie Soft is more likely...I know they come with bows, right? But is a cage application practical or been done, etc?

Bull...this is probably a question for you, just throwing it out on the board as well.

We'll be in Seattle Thursday by NOON!!!

Depends on the use of your rig? Are you going to wheel it hard enough that you may roll it? Metal-Tech can make a cage that will fit the troopy. A modified FJ40 cage kit will work.

From what I have heard you say you want to do with it I would throw a Eshan soft top and call it good.

A cage is very doable though..

i would put a cage in it. Randy who just picked up an hj47 this fall has a cool plan for a cage. he plans to put 3 fj40 hoops the first int he stock fj40 location thent he next between the jump seats then the thrid aftr the last jump seat then connect them. for the front you could use your favorite flavor of front cage, I would lean toward metal techs fj40 front cage. when I get my lv project done my next resto plan is a troopy and that is what I plan on for a cage in it.

I'm going with a modified FJ40 rollbar, with a new front hoop and stringers. The 40 rollbar will be towards the rear, with the new hoop right behind the driver/passenger.

Most of the "cage" will cover the rear passenger compartment (for my little girl), and I'll have a soft cargo barrier to keep the stuff in the rear where it should be...

I agree w/ Bull. I really don't anticipate doing anything hard core. However I had understood that even some TLCA sactioned events, you need a roll bar. Also, doing the little real "off roading" that I would do in the Troopy w/ the kids.. I just feel safer. (Also a good place to mount the basket on top and speaker bars for tunes! :D)

I spoke w/ LT from Metal Tech and hoped to have mine shipped out next week. Going w/ 3 B pillars from the "stock 40" , 9 OEM foot pads, 4 cross pieces to tie the pillars together, 8 "A to B" pieces, 2 frame supports. I think the Troopy will either need the frame supports and/or fender well supports (Like where a 40 roll bar attaches). Got those coming from the store in Tx

Hope to get the top off and redone this winter... put the cage in and hope it all goes well. Hope to put the lift on this winter as well for next riding season :bounce2:
