Seeing the weather forcast for tomorrow is calling for snow and rain, I am postponing the trip out with the family (wife, three kids and dog) until Saturday. Possible destinations could be Harrison West, Harrison East, Chilliwack Lake, or Jones Lake. In other words, I can be swayed if someone wants to come along and has a preference. The main idea is to go somewhere out of the city and do a bit of wheeling and exploring. So you web wheelers, ;p if you want to go for a run let me know. My plan is to be on a FSR by 11:00 AM - so meeting somewhere central by 10:30 AM. I'll PM you my cell if you plan on coming.

Any preference as to where? Harrison, Chilliwack and Jones are all about the same to me in terms of getting there. Jones is basically a fairly short 9 km ride to the top at 642 M, providing snow doesn't stop us. Any other suggestions. Let's shoot for a departure point at 10:30 AM.

The road is clear to the lake. It has been plowed to the gate on the north west side, and to the cabin on the east side. Did a detour up there a few weeks ago coming back from a job out in Hope.

Saturday trip is still on. As per Kim's post, we are doing not one but two day trips this weekend.:)

Martin, thanks for the info on Jones lake. It would probably be too quick and easy then for a day trip. Have you been up the Chilliwack Valley lately. I am wondering about the Foley Lake Road and getting into Foley lake. When I tried a Christmas I stopped at where there was an active sluff.

Another option might be heading out East Harrison.:hmm:

We'll post up the meeting spot tomorrow. Departure time will also be confirmed but it will be around 10:30 AM

Not really sure about the Foley road John. I would think the offshoots gain elevation really quikly and would be in snow. As you mentioned, past Foley Lake the road has had some slides, not sure if they are passable, I decided against it when I was up there in October. Not sure if I'll have time to do a day trip with you guys, but I'll check in tomorrow to see what the plan is.

Martin, I should also have taken one of those big shop magnets with me. The only spot big enough to turn around and some *&%$#@! snowmobilers decided to have a big fire and burned up a load of wooden boards full of nails in the middle of the road. One partially burnt board I pulled out had a nail every half inch. Made me think some sicko might have done that on purpose than rather an idiot just not thinking.

Anyways, it looks like we will keep to the lower elevations off of East Harrison or something off of West Harrison. I'd be happy for any other suggestions.

John , wherever you want to go, East or west Harrasin. Try to stay fairly low We ran into snow at 350meters last weekend. We cant be too late bcause of IKEA right.

Sitting at my desk at the duece and the snow from the storm that blew through last night is 1/2 way down Vedder Mtn.

Count me in. I've been wanting to get out with you guys, and the chance is finally presenting itself. Would we be able to get to the hot pools on East Harrison? I've also been wanting to try Sunrise Lake sometime, but not sure of the elevation for tomorrow's adventure.

FWIW I have a set of 4 chains that might make some playing in snow interesting. I'm up for whatever, really.

We are heading out East Harrison FSR tomorrow (Sat). We are meeting at the Husky station in Harrison at 10:30 AM. My cell is 778-241-3724. Aaron's confirmed. I know Marcin was interested but I am not sure if that was for Sat, Mon or both runs. Cruisin' well see you there. 4WDarren from BC4x4 may also be joining us in one of his Toy 4x4s.

Malcom, Ania and I are coming. Malcolm drives a white, stock 80, he calls "snow white". It will be first time out my 81 after all the repair...
See you tomorrow.

Great Run Today. Was expecting 3-4 rigs and we ended up with 7 plus a few other non-club cruisers that just came by to scope out the herd. Then there was that load of kids in an old Trooper who commented about all the nice Fourties. We finally figured out they must have been refering to our age group. Glad I made the top of the sand box on my second try or I would not be able to show my face at the next meeting... or more importantly to my kids. Has nothing to do about ego...

Here are a few pics from today. CC E. Harrison FSR Mar 22-08 - a photoset on Flickr

Lots of camper around the lake from one end of the road to the other. As we were just heading out, we passed 3 RCMP Cruisers on the way in. No idea what for.

I am sure Rob, Ania and Aaron will have other pics.

Didn't make the IVOAC "Meet and Greet" tonight. When we got home, everyone was worn out and didn't want another drive. Looking forward to the Monday run out to Hale. Kim and Aaron are confirmed. If you are interested, see Kim's post for meeting place and time.

Hey, I got at least another 37 years to go before 80! :D It was a fun day and there was only one lefty and gasser in the bunch. Ah, nothing like getting out and enjoying nature to the beautiful sounds and smells of diesel. :)

My oldest daughter was a bit bored as would be most teenage girls her age. However, she loved driving through the river to the other side, going through the mud in the back trail and climbing the sand hill. Maybe her first wheels will be a Cruiser or a Safari.
