I got muy prado in July 2025 and have been restoring it bit by bit. All parts sourcing have been a nightmare and a journey - from UAE, Japan, Australlia, USA and also UK and more. it's just taken a lot of effort to give the car the love it deserves. Now Error 38 is what is torturing me a lot. I orderd 2 harnesses thinking at least one of them will fit but I am left hanging dry. I need help!!.

Firstly the vehicle does not have a real VIN number as it was imported under older model number to save taxes i guess by the first buyer or the sellor (This is a 2006 model & 2007 import to india)

Model CodeKDJ120W-GKAEY GradeVX (top spec JDM) Engine1KD-FTV (3.0L D-4D turbo diesel) Engine Serial1KD-0971409 (These are confirmed details)

Transmission (exact sub-variant TBC) A343F 4-speed autoTransfer CaseFull-time 4WD (HH/HL/LL)

Attached is the picture of the Harness that was installed in my car. Exact part number was not being shortlisted so I ordered 82125-0K010 and 82125-35130 from Amayama japan and both turned out to have more pins in their socket and not fitting. Also the harness has basically 5 wires from the socket. 4 are connectors and 1 is a sensor that sits outside (4th picture below)

Anyone that could help guide me how to find the right harness part number. I am unable to read the gear number etc. as I got the car's rust protection done. So I thought I will come here and check if any expert can recognize this basis personal experience.

Thank you very much.

The A343F, at least the ones we got in the states, only have three internal solenoids: two for shift and one for torque converter lockup, so the subharness (pigtail) only has three connector housings for the internal parts, and one to join it to the engine harness.
The subharness, for the 1995-1997 80 series A343F is 82125-30400.
The subharness, for the 1998-2002 100 series A343F is 82125-60310.
The difference between the two was necessary because the two transmissions used different (Denso) solenoids:
80 series:
Shift (1 & 2) = 85420-30200
Lock up (3) = 85420-30220
100 series:
Shift (1) = 85420-22150
Shift (2) = 85420-22170
Lock up (3) = 85420-30260 (or 85420-30270, Aisin part)

You should be able to locate the part numbers on your solenoids.

I don't know how the Prados were configured, maybe the subharnesses included connections for the speed sensors and/or transfer case. You need to look at the number embossed on the rear of the ENGINE harness connector housing. It will be the last five digits of the connector housing part number, the number format is 90980-xxxxx, where the last five digits are on the part. The mating subharness connector will have a similar part number, usually one digit higher or lower than the engine harness part number.

There is a very useful Toyota publication, titled "Wire Harness Repair Manual", located in the Resources forum, 100 series section, which contains details for all the electrical connectors, including how to match pairs of male/female connector housings. It's a .pdf file, so you can search (CTRL+F) for the last five digits of the engine harness connector housing and find it in the table that lists its mate.

All this is in the event that someone cannot find the exact correct part number for your truck...

Thank you very much my Man, you gave me some Direction that definately helps. Not sure why so many variables had to be there. But basically I am going ahead and ordering
82125-30400
82125-60310

As what my mechanic and me identified that this part here is perfect picture of what our car's harness is - Wiring of the hydraulic unit Aisin Warner 30-40LE, 30-80LE, 30-43LE / TOYOTA A340E, A340H, A340F, A341E, A350E, A343F — from AISIN WARNER – Buy Now for $70 USD - https://maktrans.net/wiring-of-the-hydraulic-unit-aisin-warner-30-40le-30-80le-30-43le-toyota-a340e-a340h-a340f-a341e-a350e-a343f-wr-3040le-1

which is very similar to
82125-30400 &
82125-60310

So ordering these and praying my life gets sorted. Do you recommend me to check any other parts that comes connected to this?

Some AI agents suggesting 89429-35090 but I am not very sure. You really come acorss like you know this really well so please guide what else do I need to ensure this time at the mechanic I am fully taken care of. Also, My car is for sure a J 120. So gear would the A343F right? any other facts you can share to enable me to order better. As I do not have the exact VIN number

Thank you very very much. God bless.

I'd try to match the connectors you need with the solenoids on the transmission. The Aisin A30-40LE is the basic transmission that Toyota had Aisin modify for the specific use in the Land Cruiser. A generic wiring harness for the A30xx transmission will likely not suit your needs.

If you can find the part number plate on your transmission, you might be able to better determine which subharness you need.

I'd try posting in the 70 series and 120 series forums. The folks there are likely to know much more about your specific model than I do.

Best of luck.
