I'm replacing my transmission mount in my 2002 LX470 and I'm unsure on the orientation of the mount. I know, I should have looked at the mount orientation before removal, but unfortunately that ship has sailed. For those unfamiliar, the mount can bolt up either way to the truck. There's a M on one side and a P on the other side. The bolt that goes through the center of the mount is also slightly offset to the side with the P on it. I've looked at a few videos on YouTube and searched here on the forums and it seems there's a discrepancy over which way to orient the mount. Not sure if the year of the truck matters or not. Anyone know which way this mount goes on a 2002 LX470? Does it matter?

Not saying I'm the expert here but when in doubt consult the OG people who made the vehicle. AKA service manual.

I've just done this job, about two weeks ago. I wasn't able to find the procedure in my FSM, but before receiving the new mount I noticed that a Youtube video said that the "L" has to go on the left, which made sense. The odd thing is, the new mount (Genuine) has an L on both faces ("front" and "back"), but on opposite sides, such that which every way you rotate it, the "L" is always in the same place. I could not detect any other direction indicator.

What year vehicle do you have? I have a 2002 LX and I had a P on one side and a M on the other side. I used an OEM Toyota part.
Mine is a 2002 HDJ100. I still have the old part so I will take another look at that, but I do remember spending about 5-10 minutes trying to determine whether there was any discernable orientation for the old and new parts and couldn't see anything!
