I bought my 2013 LX570 four years ago 46,000 miles (CarMax shipped from Florida to Nevada) 78,000 miles now, all hot climates and I off road in Nevada. I think I should and want to change trans fluid but uneasy reading so many posts. Toy and Lexus dealers don't want to do it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I replied in the other thread, but your local Lexus dealer should 100% do this if you want them to. It is going to be the most expensive option, mind you.

Other options are do it yourself if mechanically inclined or find a good indy mechanic (they may not have a fluid exchanger though).

Toyota recommends changing the ATF at 60,000 miles for heavy duty use (think towing). It is considered liftime fluid (lol) for mall crawlers.

At most dealers there’s a drain & fill service that replaces about 3.5 quarts of fluid, and also an exchange/flush service that replaces all of it. The exchange/flush is going to cost a lot more. A lot of the time there is a cleaning detergent that is used during the flush, and then a fluid conditioner that is added to the new fluid after the flush. You can request those two items aren’t used and have them only replace the transmission fluid. Make sure they’re using genuine Toyota WS fluid.

Or you can do several drain and fill services yourself and that will replace the majority of the fluid. The worst part of the job for most folks is probably pumping the new fluid in and correctly setting the level.

The miles don't bother me it's the age of the car 13 years old never been changed and mostly in a hot salty environment Florida and now 4 years in Las Vegas. Would you still change it.

I am no expert but yes I would change it. @GrouchyTech made a great post just above about how you can handle the service request from whomever you choose to go to.

I’m a believer in the drain 4 quarts and fill it back up with four new quarts method. As a DIY it’s really not that hard. It seems a little complicated reading about it but once you do it, it’s pretty simple. I’m also a believer in taking samples and sending them to Blackstone for UOA. A good indie would do that for you. The analysis would tell you if you really need to change all the fluid or not the next time.
