So my transfer case needs a rebuild. What are my options when it comes to bang for the buck? Any inputs are welcome.

I have a feeling I may be in the same boat :( Group buy! Seriosuly though, I saw a used one online for $650 and someone on mud had one for $350. They said they were tested and working. What are your symptoms?

Yes, what are the symptoms? As far as I know the t-case rarely fails. I know the vc goes out but rarely does the whole thing go out

I have currently have a slight vibration on the skinny pedal and groan when I hit the gas. Also some rattles until I hit a certain speed and it goes away. When it was up on a lift there was a some play at the front shaft. The ujoints are fine. Also when CDL is locked I hear a click click click... :( (normal?) I thought maybe wheel bearings until I hit the CDL.

I took the truck in to get the leaking transmission looked at. The transmission was just rebuilt in May, so thought I would get it check because it is still under warranty. So the mechanic told me it need a new seal, they took the tranny and tcase apart and found that the barings in the tcase was shatered and my gears was mess up because of it. I found some used one for around $600 and a new one for around $1200. A rebuild kit cost around $250.

Ruffy, I would have to say not enough wheeling caused the tcase to go out...LOL...seriously I've should have had the tcase bearings replace when I had the transmission rebuilt. The truck has over 194000 miles on it.

its funny to know the minute you install 5.29s your tranny goes and then your t-case.
