Transfer Case Shift Fork - what could have caused this?!?!?

I am re-gearing the transfer case in my 4/1994 FZJ80. I have the whole case apart and cleaning parts and I find this “wear” or”damage” on the smaller shift fork (36312-60050). Any idea what could have caused this and should I order a new one to replace it? I have not found any other issues with any parts on this transfer case and no metal shavings when I drained it.

Yes. It's a cast part where the parting edge of casting is ground off to get rid of the slag most likely to fit into a jig for machining. It's a miniscule amount of material that gets removed no loss of strength etc.
