Need good input gear for a 76 FJ40. Has to be helical cut with 16 spline hole and 31 teeth.

If you still have not found one I know where a couple were in a junk yard. They are in good shape and 31 teeth. If you still need one I can check and see if there are still there . There are in a pile of parts under cover and I'm sure they don't even know they have them so I doubt they sold them.

John,

Thanks for the reply. I do still need that part. If it matches the requirements and is ingood shape, please let me know what you need from me.

Update

Okay I made it to the junk yard, they still had both so I picked them both up along with a fine spline PTO gear. These things have been sitting in a pile of parts probably for twenty years and are really dirty. I work four-tens and leaving town Friday night for three days and won't get a chance to clean them up until Tuesday. The teeth and splines look fine but I won't know about the surface where the seal rides until they cleaned up. I will post a picture of both once they are cleaned up and we go from they. The splines are not worn which is the biggest problem with the fine spline gear and tail shafts.

I believe that this gear is the only part holding me up from putting the 40 back on the road after a three month engine rebuild. I'd love to get my hands on it. I'm trying to avoid buying a new one (ouch).

If the gear is 16-spline, 31 helical teeth with little wear and if it works in your schedule leaving (you can read this in time to give me instructions and respond), I can over-night a cashier's check. I'll trust I can clean up the seal surface. While the t/c is out, I'll take the PTO gear too if you don't want/need. Let me know here or PM.

Thanks

I cleaned up a drive gear and the PTO gear today. Could be bead blasted and come out alot better. The splines are fine along with the teeth. The surface that the seal rides on is in good shape. $60 dollars for the pair.

Thanks, they look in good condition. I finally found them in Denver last weekend. The new motor, trans, and t/c are going in and will be back on the road this weekend. Based on the trouble I had finding what I thought were easy parts of find, you'll have no trouble seeling them at that price.
