Transfer case input bearing position (1 Viewer)

Question on a 1978 FJ40 transfer case input shaft bearing. My bearing position looks similar to this picture. It looks like it’s pulled in towards the tranny past the race, but the spacer is the original and I can’t figure out why the bearing not flush. Is this normal?

In this pic, I'm just about to pull it apart. Looks the same to me.

EDIT: Recently separated a 74 & a 75 both 4 speeds and they looked the same. 74 in the pic.
