Hey guys hope you can help me out as I’m driving myself crazy online.

I went to my local Toyota dealer to have a bunch of fluids replaced, including the transfer case fluid.

I was explicit with them that I wanted the very pricey LF75W fluid used and when picking up the truck I told them to give me the part number and to confirm that’s what they used.

They gave me an empty bottle of the fluid. I’m used to seeing the red metal can that typically retails for $80-$120 per litre. This was instead a black plastic jug. The invoice shows $75 per litre. The service rep said that Toyota changed manufacturers for this fluid and that’s why it no longer comes in the can.

I trust a dealer service rep about as far as I can throw them. Can anyone confirm that they used the right stuff? Relevant pictures below.

this makes sense. I was shopping for tcase fluid last year and everyone around me showed 08885-01806 discontinued.
The plus side is ENEOS is a good brand and the new fluid lists for much cheaper (my local dealer is showing $51/liter).

It looks legit but different part number than what I've used in the past which is 08885-01806 in the can.
I just looked up the original part number and it's now $130 a liter at Toyota parts online. Crazy. Wonder if tariffs jacked up the price more for the unicorn fluid.

I keep a few tins of the finer vintages next to the Chateau Lafite Rothschild, in a temperature controlled room.

Thanks as always guys. Going to assume it’s legit for now.

And let this thread serve as a PSA that the transfer case fluid may have gotten a bit cheaper for us.

Ravenol @ ~ $25 seems expensive.
How does that go?
Happy TORSEN center differential, Happy wife? :meh:
My German car friends swear by Ravenol. I picked some up from Blauparts, got a great price for all the fluids and free next day shipping. Great option if you don’t have a dealer close by. Also their bottles have a built in nozzle, I didn’t need to use a hand pump.
