So I noticed out at Rattlesnake today that about 1/4 of the time when i hit the gas in my 93, it would rev upto 2000-2200rpm before the cruiser would start moving. The rest of the time I could bump the gas the move forward as normal. Tranny fluid seems to be fine. Keep in mind that this cruiser has 260K on it. any thoughts as to where to start looking for the problem?

change the AT filter, maybe the actual filter must be cloged so the pressure in the lines will drop some times.

The slippage has to be in the tranny, and you should get this fixed immediately if not sooner. Anybody know the link to the guy who's an auto tranny builder in Australia who knows the A442F inside and out?

I'd definitely drain and fill the tranny weekly in hopes of fresh additives freeing up a stuck solenoid, etc. Also, slippage like that can cause permanent and irreversible damage.

I assume that I don't want to flush the tranny with this many miles, just drain and refill. Should I drop the pan and change the filter. You do drop the pan to change the filter right? Guess I'll have to move the 2f over in the garage and bring the 80 in for service. Not good having both my cruisers down at once.

tltaylor- do you know the transmission maintenance history on this rig? To be safe, I would just drain, drop the pan, clean the screen (there is no filter) and clean the bottom of the pan, and fill. I would strongly recommend against flushing with that kind of mileage! A flush will provide you with no real benefit over a few drain/fills over a longer period of time, and flushing is much more risky for a high mileage transmission. I recommend Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF.

I am setting aside monday evening to do the full treatment. Now I just have to find a way to work. Shouldn't be to hard as I live next door to my boss.
