I was going to take the family out on Puget Sound yesterday afternoon but found out I have no power to my socket. I checked the fuse and it appears to be good. My multimeter took a dump and I have a new one coming. Any thoughts, I get back in town on Thursday night so I have Friday to trouble shoot as I fly out again in Sat night for the week.

There are some connectors that the trailer harness plugs into less than 1 foot from the socket itself. Cross your fingers and hope it's just a simple matter of cleaning those connectors or plugging them back in if they're loose. There are other junction points that are tougher to get to and much less likely to be a problem.

Thanks a couple things to check out when the new MM gets here. 06 crazy it wasn't wired correct from the factory..

Funny I have a 4 pin tester and an adapter to 7 and was just playing with them waiting for the wife before a dog walk. I have brake and turn signals just no tail lights. I tested the 7 pin adapter to 4 pin tester with a battery charger and they all work. I should have the new multi meter when I get back in town and can check the power at the pins. guessing either the plug is wired wrong or the adapter.

Find the ground pin, turn lights on and see if any of the other contacts are hot? Does your trailer have spade type connectors or pin type?

Is it a flat 4 wire connector ? Tail lights always seem to be the culprit.

Bending and motion of the connectors cause wires to break inside the wire cover and it’s not noticeable. Wiggle the connected connectors and if you get a blink of tail lights at some point you know you have a broken wire.

Then a trip to NAPA for a connector kit to replace the old connectors that are probably corroded anyway. Good luck.

I got back in town late last night and the new MM got here so when the wife stepped out to show a house. I got to digging, power at the 7 pin for the other functions (brake, L & R signals) nothing a trailer lights. However, I have power with only the parking lights at pin 4 which is the aux charging pin? When is this pin used? I'll google as I am heading to an othopod appt.

I need an end to end wiring diagram, I would like to make sure this is right.

Because my boat trailer has surge brakes I have one of the 7-4 pins adapters that has lights to indicate power. It’s way easier to trouble shoot with than using a MM.

Nice chromer! I lived in White Rock years ago.

I am on Bainbridge Island and spend most of my time in the salt now. I travel alot for work so it doesn't leave much time to fish. I do bring gear on work trips. I fished the Thompson for many years and one of my biggest regrets is chasing girls and not fishing when I lived in BC.

I want to get these damn lights fixed so I can splash my Whaler as I want to sell it and upgrade this fall.
