Tracks4Africa - Mapping Africa, one day at a time provides GPS map data in Garmin format for some Garmin GPS units. Check unit compatibility! The data is collected from actually traveling the routes and averaging the track data from many trips. They provide CDs and have a subscription update service. The data set is actively being added to and improved. I've not used it and am making a post for future reference by others.

I found out about it via these trip reports about a motorcycle trip in Angola. It is a fantastic read.
