Here's some more pics, the 1st..has what l think is the drive relay sitting on the edge of the top wing (to the left you'll see the rad fan shroud & 2 chrome bolts sitting out behind the horn thats where it bolts too) you'll also see the water bottle frame, the wire runs between it & the inner wing down towards the headlight, horn & radiator. The unknown relay l posted earlier (above) bolts into the corner tucked between the water bot frame & the front bulkhead...
2nd is the relay itself..
3rd is the loom connection..it has the 2 heavy wires shown..the loom wire into the male/female connector has a black wire & a black/orange stripe wire.
The 1st pic also shows the 2 thin male/female connectors from the loom one has a red block...the wires here are white/black & red/black...
4th/5th pics are where l'm at stage....passenger side out checked, repaired ready for insulation tape/sleeving, the other is the driver side, you can see the EZ power steering unit & fusebox wiring to the right...thankfully it was a good day.. roll on friday...

That's your glow plug relay
Thanks Dougal, the heavy wires to the other relay, esp the black had a hole in the outer sleeve & wiring was exposed so it must've been shorting out on the bodywork, in the meantime l've insulated the heavy wires & replaced the smaller wires connector with a direct link & rerouted it away from the inner wing & bolts it was rubbing against. hopefully it'll start better now & it might even turn off at the switch...

It seems my ute has 2 glow plug relays...the 1st picture l was trying to ID is a GP relay according to MrLandcruiser, and according to Dougal & after doing further research the relay on the wing is also a GP relay...both are live..and today after repairing & reinstalling the wiring loom & connecting everything it started 1st turn of the key after sitting for over a week ( a 1st since l bought it)..that said it still doesn't switch off at the ignition so l'll be fitting a pull stop to get round this issue for the summer & l'm thinking about commissioning a new loom later on this year, given the wiring is 40yr old & having checked alot of it, its looking tired. (blackened instead of copper).
l'm wondering if there was a wiring colour change in the later model HJ47 ?..for the indicators

I don't see those colours on my wiring diagram. The only solid green i see is for the front drive relay, but I don't see the black-blue anywhere.

Remind me what year is it?
Just a heads up Dougal ...the green/black heavy wired relay is according to Mr Landcruiser the glow plug relay.... its probably original & l'll have to carbon date it for a part number...

Yea i know some injection pumps need the cable looping over to pull from the front.

Mine prefers it from the back. Meh

Keep it simple. Less to go wrong
Absolutely, l'm sitting here thinking to myself...(did your Gran ever have a kitchen washing pulley for drying clothes, you pull up to the ceiling ?)... l've got a couple of those old pulley wheels, l might be able to adapt 1...for the cable to go around...to the bracket...then to the pump (keeping it a period ute at all costs....:D)

The good news is the wiring looms back in & the ute starts 1st turn of the key... but.. the ignition still isn't switching off, the CD players not working now & the passenger (L/H) flasher is blinking away faster than the drivers side...everything else is working.
Ignition wise l've ordered a pull stop cable (l've rigged up something else meantime)... l've rechecked the CD wiring/relay/fuses & the wiring loom/connections its all connected ok..(so l'm kinda groping in the dark & l've the scars to prove it.)...Anyway l bought aftermarket front indicators which transpired to have 2 right hand internal units, so after a bit of a switcheroo and a rewire & modify the internal earths before install. l suspect the passenger side needs a proper earth cable to the inner wing, it didn't have 1 before. l'll add an internal wire & run it into the engine bay & see if that works....

After some thought l suspect as far as the CD player goes, there's possibly an internal break in the Aux power supply wire somewhere that l took from the lighter which still works (?) & the main supply is connected via fuse to the battery & its earthed..

Interestingly in the midst of doing the wiring loom l found 4 previous repairs to the white/blue alternator cable, which looped past what must've been an internal break & reconnected to the alt cable abt 8 inches away.... so someone's 'been here before'......l think the new loom l was considering..maybe fast approaching on the horizon....l'm awaiting the quote for it.
And just as an aside, l've ordered a new header pipe...mine has a crack reappeared between the 2-1 connection which was previously repaired. (badly)..

Next up, the ute goes in for its MOT (road safety check) on wednesday, officially 3 weeks before its exempt from ever having to have 1 again & the road tax exemption kicks in too...
