TPS help

I'm usually over in the 40 section but I put a new to the truck tps in yesterday and the it revs up and down. Can't drive it and now the check engine light is. I even went back and put the old one back in and now it's doing the same thing. It is on a 88 22re and any help would be appreciated.

TPS need adjustment. See the FSM for how to adjust.

Did it rev up and down before initially changing the TPS? What was going on before?

Yes when driving it would be back and fourth. Now the truck will not even start.

Pulles off the tps and unplugged it and now it runs like a champ? I don't understand.
