I'm going to pick up some used wheels and tires for my 2003 Tacoma.
The used wheels have Tire Pressure sensors -- my 2003 Tacoma has no such system.

I know I can run the wheels as is on my 03 Taco, with the sensors -- but would it be easy to take the sensors out ( can a tire shop legally do this?? ) Do I need to bother with taking them out? does the TPM Sensor work exactly the same as a traditional rubber valve for inflating - Do the sensors fail & leak? If one fails, does the tire shop have to replace the sensor or can they swap in a cheapo rubber valve stem.

Just curious if anyone has short answers to these questions ( I just don't want to buy a set of wheels with a system in place that I don't need that is going to cause me headaches )

thanks!!!

you can leave them in and they will work just fine or a tire shop can take them out no problem and replace with a rubber stem. if your going to go with new tires in the future i would leave them in for now, their not going to do anything good or bad, and replace with rubber stems when its time for new tires
