Update long overdue:

A couple of months and a spring later, I am in KY doing an internship. A month ago I took the tub off, sanded / blasted all of the rust and most of the paint off, primed it and sprayed on some 3M under coating on the bottom of the bead and fenders. The rest of the tub got primed.

The frame didn't get taken apart because I have yet to purchase my 3500lb axle because I'm in the middle of my SOA. I did sand / blast all of the rust and sprayed the entire thing with a rust converter / metal prep to preserve it.

Short term goals for the trailer are to do an SOA on it to match the height of my truck after it's done and use it some more! Here are a few pics showing it's current task: parts storage.

Glad to see your still working on it. They do make for great storage.

Just read this thread and keep up the work!

I did a very similar work on my M416 five years ago and it served many purposes included "dumping" for my recently completed remodel house.

My 1967 M416 comes with a metal loops at the bottom tub for the Marine to load/unload from thier Marine ship for the front line deployment. One of the men at Coyote Flat joined Marine in 1970 and he pointed at mine and said "That's a Marine trailer!" even the metal loops was cutted off!

Yours?

First of all, thanks for the compliment! I've used this thing a couple of times and I love it. I considered selling it, but how would I transport all of my crap!

Metal loops..... What do these loops look like? My tub has got the drain holes front and back which have loops on them, but other than that there are no loops on the bottom of the tub. There are hand holds and tie down hooks on the sides, is that what you mean?

I really should paint this thing. I bought the paint, I'm just lazy. I've worked on my 60 so much this summer I kinda want to take a break.

I'm looking for one of these, too. Nice trailer.

Thanks man! They're hard to find, especially in good condition, which is why I jumped on this one before I even had a hitch.

Hey - why not run a spare cruiser axle under there... then you could use it with the same tires as your rig, so you would have two more spares... and some spare axles. Could even lock up the steering on a spare front axle, and have yourself a whole spare front end you could swap in on the trail! (is it faster to swap two front axles, or a birf?)

) Sweet trailer... Gotz to find me one!

That's definitely not a bad idea! The two issues I see with that are the spring perches being in the wrong place and wrong size, but other than that it would be perfect. I have heard of people taking some cruiser spindles, welding them onto some tube and making a rear axle out of that. I need to get myself another cruiser axle!!!

Anyone interested in buying this? I'm looking at upgrading trailers and this would have to go first. I can get more recent pics if you guys want. Basically it's in primer except for the underbody and tub floor itself. The under body has a 3M undercoating ( seems to be very durable ) and the tub floor is covered with a rust inhibitor. The frame has the same rust inhibitor. Paint it the color of your truck!

PM me if you're interested. Trailer is currently located in Schenectady, NY
