I don't tow much, but when I do (Dos Equis), it's during the day.

I recently had to tow at night and my turn signals and brake lights worked but my constant on lights for night time driving had no signal. Checked all the fuses that were labeled for towing and anything related to lighting and all were good. I checked the wires with a current tester pen at the adapter and before the adapter. All wires lit up the pen showing a signal but the constant on wire.

I ended up having to splice into my tailight wire (brown wire) to send the signal.

Any guesses?

Thanks for the help!

We tow all the time with a landscaping business. Sometimes wires break inside the wire cover due to flexing. Check around for that. When I suspect that I cut the wires back a few inches and it usually works.

Connectors wear out due to use and lack of use. The latter being dirt and corrosion. Have a blast !

So are you saying you had power for signals but not running lights inside a trailer socket out back by the hitch?

Was this a factory tow package setup rig?

Were all the pins functioning in the initial socket before the adapter?

What yr/model are we talking?

Were you adapting from a 6/7 pin to a 4 pin or the reverse?

The better you describe, the better we can help diagnose.
