Im tryin to get my 55 down here to my house and uhaul is sayin that he wont fit on any of their trailers.... HELP!!!!!

Will she fit? I fould the width/ length and weight. Now i just need to see if the trailer is big enough, i got the feeling that they had no clue what i was talking about over the phone, and ive seen them towed before on tow dolly's but i need a vehicle transport.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ghostrider,
I just bought a 55 as well and I am picking it up on sat. I am towing it on a uhaul trailer. It will fit on the trailer they just dont want you to cause they say it weighs to much. But you should be fine you'll just need chains or something because the tire straps they provide arent long. I know a few people who have done it with no problens so you should be fine just tell them you are towing something else. Richard

towing your 55

I towed my 74' FJ55 from Salt Lake City to Omaha, NE on an 18' flatbed. It belonged to a friend, but it looked pretty much the same as the local UHaul trailers. My 2 cents: take lots of chain and chain binders. We aired down the tires, put one on each corner of the axles, bound them tight with the chain binders, then reaired the tires. It was so solid that I had to use a breaker bar to release the binders. We towed it 900 miles at 75MPH behind a dually F350. It was cake. Good luck to you. Hodag

It can be done. We've done it twice with the FJ55 over long distances (once flat and once on a trailer). I am also moving the FJ55 around here on the tow bar (flat tow). All with the BJ60!

hey ghostrider, where are you towing to/from? i could check out some trailer options that i have used in the past (friend's dad's flatbed trailer...) if it's not all that drastic of a drive
