Hey Everyone...

Wondering what I'm doing wrong on adjusting the torsion bars on my 06 LX. I have an OBD scanner that can read the AHC pressures. Following the great video from YotaMD .

My pressures are high in the front so I am trying to turn the adjuster bolt on the torsion bars... it won't budge. I have all the weight off of the front end. One thing of note is a previous owner sprayed undercoating on the frame and it caked on the bolts. I wire brushed it off as best I could. Still no movement. Don't see anything specific I need to do in the FSM.

Any suggestions other than scrapping the AHC system all together would be greatly appreciated... Thanks.

Post a picture of your adjusters. If they are bottomed out you may need to reindex them, but I doubt that on a stock AHC truck. Confirm you tried to adjust them with the AHC in high? Mine was easy to adjust in high, and it would get much harder in norm. Of course, you may just need a longer bar if they haven't been adjusted before.

There's plenty of room to adjust, maybe 1/3 of the bolt. I didn't try to adjust while in High. Will give that a try along with my breaker bar and a pipe if necessary.

Ran into this same issue a couple weeks ago. Mine looked like they had never been adjusted. Not exaggerating when I say I went through probably 10-12 rounds of alternating between pb blaster (on the threads above the piece that the bolt threads into) and heat on that piece itself. Then on top of that, I had to use a breaker bar with a cheater pipe, giving me about 3 ft of leverage. I had my wife hold the socket on the bolt so that I could be at the end of the cheater bar pushing all my body weight against it. Once I got it initially moving, it became easier and easier. Don’t give up, it’ll eventually move!

lol... thanks. That's actually very encouraging. Pretty sure mine have never been adjusted and with the undercoating it's that much harder.

Finally got my bars to adjust. Put it up on a friend's lift. After a lot of wire brushing to remove the undercoating on the threads, multiple soakings with PB blaster, a 3/4 breaker bar and a 3 foot pipe, they finally broke. Was then able to use a 3/4 inch impact. Did 4 rotations and my front pressure went from over 9lbs to 6.0.

Very pleased. Next is a full fluid flush and we're good!
