All, I've posted in the wanted section, but I thought I'd post here as well. I purchased a used 12HT in hopes I could rebuild and have a solid motor, but I just found out it has a crack in #6 cylinder that showed up when magnaflux'ed. I don't have a photo at this time, but it looks like every cylinder has this marking but only #6 shows to be cracked. Maybe a casting issue with the heads? Anyway, anyone have a good head available? I don't think I could recover the cost I am in it now by parting it out so I'm all in at this time.

Thanks
Scott

Yeah, working that avenue as well, just wanted to see what may be out there. Here is a photo of the crack, it’s on cylinder 6. Thinking maybe pining it would be an options as well.

I would not be totally concerned with that crack, I dont know how far the next water jacket is away in that particular head, but I know for sure that some reputable manufacturers have actually guidelines in which cracks in this position are tolerable if they don't exceed a certain width. That applied to aluminium heads though. your one It is probably weldable too.
Just my 5 cts

Thanks, I’m on the fence along with the machinist. Just want to make sure in the end the motor will be solid as I want to put miles in this when it’s done, so at this time it’s leave as is and see what happens, pin repair it, weld it, buy a used head, or it looks like Terrain Tamer might have a new one available, but the cost is crazy expensive.

Thanks for the input
Scott
