I have a 1990 pick up that I did an SAS too ( im a jeep guy ) and this is my first Toyota build. I used a standard 4" set up from trail gear but the truck is just to tall. How can I drop it down 3 to 4" ? Aside from it being so tall, im having a teribal time getting a front drive line for it. Angle is just to steep. This is not a crawler or a hard core wheeler, I tow my quad with it, haul stuff, use it as a truck. But would like to have the front end turneing when needed. So I was wondering are there different springs I could swap out in the front to drop it down? Or would just removing springs from the front pack work? Anyway thanks for any help.

It will sag over time but about all you can do is try taking a leaf or two out of the spring pack or replace the springs with something with less lift. It doesn't help that you bought the absolute cheapest springs money could buy. It's kind of like buying the Harbor Freight Socket set instead of the Snap-On.

There are plenty of places that make custom long travel driveshafts for your truck.

If you want a lower, better made spring try here. However you will still need a long spline driveshaft.

Thanks for the reply. What makes Trail Gear springs cheap? For my application I think the price of the kit was pretty good. The truck had a 4" IFS lift and that was perfect, im only running 33's and will most likley never go taller ( on this truck ) but that doesn't mean I will ever do another Toyota build!!! I think pulling springs out is the easiest by far, so I might just try that. As far as the drive line I have talked to a few people that say it can be built, its holding together when the front end droops on that side.

nothing wrong with trail gear springs.

By some folks thinking here you need the best most expensive s*** or its no good.

You should have got the TG 3 inch springs. Dont remove leaves it will ruin the pack by removing support leaves and void the springs warranty.

best best best, s*** if thats the case we should all have started with a caddy or a lexxus instead of a cheap ol average toyota.

Yeah I wasnt likeing the idea of removing springs from the pack. The ride is great, so it's now just about lift. I got the whole SAS axle & complete kit for $1200. Thats an 85 axle and the complete install kit. Plus I got $125 for the IFS that came out of it. So not to bad.

those all pro springs have always been too tall and there is no shim on them either.

you can order shims. and then take out a leaf. but since the all pro springs are already soft 130in lbs IIRC it may become too soft

Well, not sure why you SAS it when its not a wheeler, but if you start crawling or wheeling at all the springs will soften out and loose an 1" or 2" in hight. which is going to exactly were you want it.

My 4" springs were pretty high, but I turned down the Ranchos and let them bounce around for a few days and they settled down. It was fun to watch the front end dip down at stop lights and the raise back up like a low rider...a low rider on 35's!

times 2 on the alcans. cheaper then buying several cheap kits that you will hate.

wife has all pro's and they have sagged from 3.5 or 4 inches to 2 inch lift.

I have the alcans after spending money on 4 complet (cheap) kits. the alcans now have 8 years on them and have not sagged.

so they seemed expensive at the time, but were less then half the price of the 4 kits that I did buy and ruined.

Im looking at it for costs. You can almost do a SAS for the price of rebuilding the IFS. Im still up in the air, some say it rides better than the IFS, but Im not so sure b/c I had a 62 that was lifted and the ride wasnt that great.

-1 for alcans. I had nothing but problems with that company. Last set I ordered from them showed up 14" too tall.

I run SOA jeep YJ springs to keep the lift height down. YJ and toyota front springs are about the same lift height. my 1.5" deaver springs gave me the perfect height (about a 4" lift) for a set of 35's.

and to break down your lift height:

IFS frame is 1.5" taller than a SFA Frame
Trail Gear spring hanger is 2" drop
Plus 4" Springs

Gives you a 7.5" lift.
