Anybody have a strong opinion one way or the other about the TLCA considering a name change to give the appearance of being more inclusive of the mini truck and FJ Cruiser folks? I have my opinion but, as I am supposed to represent our chapter, I would like to get some feedback from you folks. You can PM me if you don't want to post your feelings about this in a public forum.

For the record, I do not support the name change initiative. All Toyota 4x4's owe their heritage to the Landcruiser and later forms of Toyota 4x4's have always been welcome in the TLCA. That said, my vote will represent the opinion of the chapter and not necessarily my own views.

I'm against the name change.

TLCA's future? While TLCA seems dead set against being a 'classic car club', that is where I believe it's future success will be. Focus on the history. Focus on the people that made that history, within Toyota and TLCA. Focus on the older trucks, the restorations, the builds, and the backyard projects. Focus on the Land Cruiser name. That is why the organization started in 1976.

In my opinion, a name change will accelerate their impending failure. There are more issues on the table that need fixing.

I could care less either way...

Agreed x 1000!

Whats wrong with being an enthusiasts club for Landcruisers? Why do we need to always try to turn this into a business that requires ever increasing income to support......wait for it.......the growth? Apply the KISS principal here. Keep it about the people, the events, the machines and the mods. I couldn't care less if we had to scale back the Trails mag to stay within our budget. Again, just my $.02.

I support your opinion there sir!

I do have my own, but I'll be brief and to point!

No change!

Dammit Domek, that was my opinion. Get your own you damn green burrito eating bastard! :D

I vote we vote "no name change".

If anybody don't like the name then they can friggin' quit ... like I did. :grinpimp:

Are The White Trash still a member?

:flamingo:

What Woody said... x2.

Yes, WToE is still a chapter, they call the name at roll call.
I'm the official delegate for LSLC - DFW, and I'm voting against any name change.
HTH
Happy Trails! N

Agreed. No name change. They can go and join all the other wussier clubs already out there. :D

NO NAME CHANGE, other stuff needs to be fixed before the name..... funny the names gonna fix all the other issues!! Oh well like the government they gonna do what they want then bitch about the results.....

We were down this road a few years ago and we agreeded then the the loss of name recognition would cost more that it would gain us. No Name Change

I'm guessing there was real happy folks to here your voice again ..... Awesome!

It's a LAND CRUISER club....... kinda like ILLEGAL alien*, what's not to understand? Guess I'm just a simple-headed man....... don't see no need to change what's NOT broken with this association.

*Disclaimer; I don't care what country ya come from, but if ya come here do it all nice and legal like or go back home......

NO to name change...

Next, will they start considering changing their logo to a heep?

Update - the vote was held and the motion to change the name of the TLCA was voted down by a vote of 20-2 with one vote of abstain. There will be no name change. That is all.

I'm workin' on getting Kowboy one of these shirts, but sir, I need to know your proper size, so's it can be done correctly. (and it won't be the first one sold, 'cuz I've already got one...) :)
Second, The name change was voted down 22-2, and the 2 surprised me. The whole thing was done because so many people were makin' noise about it, and we figured we could hold a vote, and it'd be handled, and put to rest. Problem solved (for now).
And we are working hard to make sure our first priority is our membership, and support of same. It's a bit of a slow process, but it's happening, so please, bear with us as we continue to move down the right path, less business, and more club, though we have to be mindful of finding a balance between the two.
Anyhoo, if you guys have any questions, or suggestions, please let me know, because I'm trying hard to do the right thing by you all.

Don't get wrapped around the axle. It's only a car club.
;)
Nick
