I have been doing more reading here on mud (this is becoming an obsession!), and was reading about tires. My father recently (in the last 3000 miles) had the tires changed. I knew that the old tires where AT's, but the new ones arent. The new ones are Michelin Cross Terrains, and I am wondering what are the limits for these particular tires. And whether I should try and find some used AT's from somewhere.

They will likely do very poor. If you are going to run a second set of tires just get some muds, or at the least an aggressive AT like a BFG or General.

But i suggest hitting a trail before you make any decisions.

I run mudders when I go wheeling & BFG A/Ts on the road. The BFGs do a pretty good job off road as well. That's why I run them on road, in case an emergency wheelin fix is required while I'm not at the trails.
As a side note Johnny & I have been cuttin some new trails in my woods. More fun every time & I don't have to leave home

I know BAMF has a set of 4 decent A/T's for sale. You can pick em up cheap and use them as your off-road set.

Those tires have served BAMF quite well on the trails. Plus you'd be keeping them in the family.

I always shop my wheelin buddies for used parts first, that way we all help each other out a bit

I do have a set of ATs. Its the pepboys brand tire. Very very similar pattern thet he BFG. BUT, it is a 15in tire. I believe you might have a 16in rim. Like 4rnr said, try hitting a trail before you decide. He is considered some what of an offroad prodigy, however one park that I will never go to on ATs is the cliffs. But that is just me. Badlands is ok for ATs

94 fzj80 has 16" wheels and you cant get 15's over the calipers, sorry bamf.

I plan on riding along with someone this summer, If someone is heading somewhere PM me. Especially if someone is down at the badlands. I'll be out of town for the Toy Jam at the cliffs, that sounds like a fun one to ride along for.

A friend of mine here does some light stuff, i'm supposed to go out with him this Saturday.

I'll keep my eyes open. Maybe i can find some cheap somewhere, even if i dont mount them right away.
