I have a 78 FJ40 without power steering. Fixing to go to stock steelies. Trying to decide between BFG 30X9.5 15's or BFG 33X9.5 15's. Anyone got any thoughts on which will handle better? Right now I'm running 33x12.50's on 8 inch rims and it is much squirrely.

Welcome.

Handle what?

Going down the road strait?

Easier for you to handle without power steering?

Squirrelly steering can be from a number of things, not just tires......

A little more information about your trucks condition, ie, lift, steering component condition, steering knuckle condition, length of shackle and if you have a shackle reversal or not, just for starters.

Starman,
If you want to address squirrelly, try the following:

Rotate your tires
Checking your tire pressure
Check your shackles and bushings
Check all of your steering components

If still no help, How's your toe?

If you just want to run a different tire-size (and have at least 2.5" lift), I would recommend 33x10.5 on steelies :D

Do a search, lots-o-info out there.
