As you may recall i had a small dilemma trying to install an Aussie locker a few weeks ago.

Quick recap: couldn't remove the spacer block to get to the C clips on the rear axle. Reason? It's not stock. There's an Eaton gov lock limited slip back there.

Well, since then I have acquired a set if open 3.7 thirds and easily got the Aussie in one. Now I'm back to my original problem when I swap thirds. This is where I need an extra set of eyes under there to see what I'm missing. And because I bought some beer that needs to go to a good cause.

I'd like to get this done before the Tuttle Creek run, too. Anyone??

Does the limited slip work? If so I'd run it in the front.. or do you plan on putting a locker in the front? If so are you planning on doing any other maint while your up there? Have you ever driven a truck with a lockright in the front?
Have you ever rebuilt the knuckles or packed the wheel bearings?
Are you replacing any seals or anything or just going with what you got? Just asking the questions..

Did you happen to watch Jobe and I swap a birf at the event? that would have been a good lesson on how to do this quickly.

I haven't opened the front to verify, but I believe that the same diff is in the front. It locks sometimes and I definitely feel in in the steering wheel when the hubs are locked. I don't want a locker in the front until I upgrade my steering, or get an ARB or 80 e-locker. And if I do a selectable up front, I'll want to run lower gears if I go through the trouble replacing the carrier. And THEN if I go with lower gears it'll be because I have 35"+ tires, and that will happen...... someday. Hehe, that was kind of a reverse cause and effect tangent.

The front axle is pretty solid. The PO did the knuckles and they still look really clean. I'm referring to the rear this time. I have axle seals that are ready to go in when I swap thirds, thats all. Anything else recommended? I do need to address the sticky parking brake while I have the drums off. Clean and maybe replace the crimp-on retaining rings that I read about.

No, I missed the quick Birf replacement you guys did.
