Changed the plugs today in the 22rte and I was kinda shocked at how bad they looked. I have only had the truck a couple of weeks and I know it the needs the valves adjusted, you can here them chattering when the truck is cold, it goes away when it's warmed up but as soon as it cools a little they chatter again. Would the valves needing to be adjusted cause the plugs to look like this? This is the worst one but the other three aren't much better.

I did change the pcv valve a couple of days ago, so would the general consensus be to use non ethanol gas only?

The only way that I know of in my area to get straight gasoline is to go through a racing fuel dealer at a racetrack. Everybody gets E10 at the pump as far as I know.

There are a few gas stations that carry non-ethanol fuel. There is one about 2 min from my house in Macon. Personally, I don't drive my 22RE truck enough to worry about it. :meh:

I need to take a look at my plugs. I only use non-ethanol in the 80 because it sits between drives the most. Fortunately here in middle TN there are a few stations that offer it. I try to run it in my pickup when I can.

I really miss dry gasoline. All of our vehicles have to do some sitting and I have discovered that E10 doesn't like to do that. My tractor has a water separator bowl on it and a couple of years ago when all of the stations around here went with E10 I began to notice more frequent bowl dumping.

I doubt it has anything to do with alcohol, it burns almost totally clean, it's the gas that burns dirty.

How old are the plugs and how were they driven? Doesn't look that bad, some wear and some deposit, would likely continue to work for a longtime?

I honestly don't know how old the plugs were, I plan on checking the new ones at the next oil change. It's funny you mention that about the ethanol possibly not being the problem, I just remembered the other day that the PO said that he almost always ran non ethanol in it. I think I will try and get in touch with him and see if he knows when the last time the plugs were changed.
