Hi gents, in the market for a 200 series.
Just drove a LX at the dealership. Has 93000 miles and surface rust underneath, no body rust. Carfax looks good. 1 owner.
Dealership is asking 29,950 seems like a decent price but this truck spent it's life up north. Interior is ok, not great. Shows usual wear for a vehicle of this age/mileage. Should I pull the trigger , or wait for something better? Oh yeah, no DVD, or cool box option which I thought was strange. It did have the upgraded stereo though.

Do you plan to wheel it r upgrade suspension? if so, I'd consider an LC over the LX.

X2. What are you going to do with it? Keep it stock or ...?

What model year is it?

Thinking about keeping it stock, only plan to use to go camping with the family. Not sure if I should be worried that it's a ny vehicle. Is the price decent, in you're opinions?

2009 model year

Assuming that its internals, service history and accident report is clean...along with no serious rust...
Seems pretty decent to me. I get nervous about rust, but mainly because I live in a near-rust-free area. Others here seem less deterred by rust as long as its minor.

Go to autotrader.com, put in your model year ranges and price ranges, RUN: Land Cruisers and LX570's with the any distance setting so you see everything in the USA listed with them and click, click, click and look at lots and lots of pictures...

x2. That's what I did when I saw his post. Auto trader.com is quick & very helpful. Remember, too, that prices there are often negotiable.

I checked autotader, I think that's how I originally found this one. It caught my interest because of the no accidents and decent service history, one owner that looks to have been possibly a company car? The dealership is near my house so it caught my eye.

Can you have it inspected for deeper rust?

Probably not. Think I may skip this one and buy a southern LX with less miles. This one is in Latham NY if anyone is interested. Thanks for all the help guys!

Drive a Land Cruiser before buying the LX. I was all set on buying an LX until I drove the LC for awhile and felt how much nicer it was to drive.

LC are more expensive than LX's and seem a bit rarer.

LCs are definitely more rare in the US since they sell a lot more LX's here. Funny how that often means the pricier LX ends up less expensive used than the LC. I wonder, though, if part of that might be that off-roaders are more inclined to buy used LCs, where the typical new LC buyer might not like buying used anything... Dunno. Just find it fascinating.

I can literally count on both hands how many 200 series I've seen since buying mine 18 months ago...and I'm in southern cal where there are millions of vehicles all day long.

I figured that buying a LC over an LX cost me about 3-4K, it is basic supply and demand. For every 1 LC there are 10 LX 200's. I talked to a Toyota rep about it years ago and he said Americans just had issued paying that much for a cruiser, not a problem with the Lexus name so that drove the production/delivery numbers for North America.

I have seen an up tick of LCs here in CO. Land Rovers rule the pavement here. They are everywhere.

I think you're smart to keep looking.

I hear they rule the tow-trucks, too...heehee ;)

Thanks, I think I may spring for a 2013 LC.
That's what I ended up doing, I found one with 12,000 miles... I've seen two(2) other guys on this board with a 2013 with 5,000 miles and another with 3,000 miles... They are out there... I guess 3 year leases are coming back to Toyota...
