Greg ,I recall the thermostat is differnet between the 3B and the 13Bt,the 13Bt has a lower bypass valve along with the main top valve, the o-ring takes the place of the gasket on the housing. James
Terms - seems EPC uses the term Gasket, Water Outlet...or Gasket, Thermostat...does not matter if flat gasket or o-ring.
Ok, made some calls. One trusted source recalls having been phoned and contacted about this. Seems "some" 13BT's did have an o-ring, not the gasket. EPC is not a visual help as it does not reference an o-ring in the pictures...unless someone has a 16341-56030 laying around (post 1988 13BT Gasket, thermostat) and check to see if the "gasket" for post 1988 13BT's is indeed an o-ring style.
Said source also confirmed the thermostat is the same between the 3B and 13BT, ala EPC parts numbers matching for the two apps.
It is simply if it is an o-ring gasket or or flat style gasket style housing. The lip could be slightly deeper on the housing requiring the o-ring (have to compare a few and see). Now, where to get a new o-ring. Get your measurements and check with Jimmy as mentioned above and/or take your old one into a Toy dealer and see if there is one on the shelf for a NA application that has the same dimensions.
The question of the day is when the change up happened. Looks like it might be 1988-08 which is when the blue block came in.
1st pic is the 3B and second is the 13BT (7* series).
Canuck, when you put the t-stat in the housing, is the top of the lip flush with the housing. Will there be a gap if you use the flat gasket?
