Have anyone used the thermocell repellant that is supposed to keep mosqitoes away? i have heard it worked pretty well. it is a handheld butane power repellant.

Put some dry ice in a box and put it 100ft away from you. Then use the money you save on  and then sit and watch while the mosquitoes buzz around a box wondering why there are no tasty morsels.

LOL. sounds like a plan. how long does the dry ice last?

Hi All:

Why?

How does dry ice attract mosquitoes?

Thanks!

Alan

they suck ass...well, they dont stop mosquitos from sucking your ass

It was thought that mosquitoes used heat signature to find its next meal, turns out this isn't the case. What they use to find us, or any animal for that matter, is our exhaled air. Mainly our exhaled CO2. So by you simply breathing you are sending out the chemical trigger that you are a meal. So give them what they want. Lots and lots of CO2, by way of a block of dry ice...away from you but not too far to render it ineffective for your surrounding area. The best mosquito deterrents are actually little motors that exhaust CO2 that last as long as you need them too. But if you dont want to pay for them, and you have a large party outside, then a couple well placed dry ice blocks will make life not so sucky.

To actually answer your question, the Thermacell works great. I use it all the time from bowhunting to drinking beer on the deck. When I hunt, I place it at my feet in the stand. be careful though because lately it has made me lightheaded.

The pads are made from chrysanthemum which is a natural repellent to skeeters, but not other animals such as deer.

BTW ask ANYONE who has ever used a CO2 tank to fill up their tires in a mosquito infested area. Ask them how much they HATE using CO2 :p

Thats why if you have a trail buddy filling up....walk away and watch the fun.

:lol::lol::lol: Aaah .... good fun to be had for sure!:lol::lol:
