Did you do that w/ a rattle can or a Roller? I painted my 4Runner with Rustoleum and a 6" Foam Roller.

Check this website out folks - paint your ride for under $200! A guy did a 1969 Charger with a foam roller - figured why not my truck!

This is my runner w/ a roller paint job:

Just some food for thought NAT - I like the Avacado - it would be great if you were in Cali, then you'd be a California Avacado!! LOL

Did you read the last 2 posts before yours? How the hell would you think that liner material could come out of a rattle can?

I know I have bought undercoating from Napa that was in a rattle can - I thought that it's possible in some types to have it in a rattle can. I haven't used the stuff personally, and no - I got about 1/2 way to 3/4 way down the second page when i hit POST REPLY. Simple newbie mistake!

Coollio, I like your sold 1st gen.;)

Thanks! Unfortunately, I had to sell it because I (literally) ruptured a disk in my back, and couldn't drive nor wheel it! It's was my Pride & Joy - which has now turned to our FZL80!

I appreciate the compliment - I built her to what she was from Stock!

easy dude, yes liner material could have come from a spray can, and it does. Nay did roll his on though, as was mentioned. I too have sprayed very high build 3M undercoat materail out of a can, amazing stuff too.
I spent hours reading about the roll on paint jobs, and they are amazing in skilled hands as it would seem. Also it seems like you spend a lot more time than doing a spray paint job. Low cost DIY though, and if I ever have tons of time to play around I might try it.

Nay, i was just about to ask about your prep work, until i read your "edit" in post #60. That's exactly what you needed to do.

When i finally decided to remove the rolled on durabak that i applied on my front fender and then spray a lining product on the entire side of my rig, i could obviously tell the difference when removing it where i had prepped correctly and where i had not.

The areas that i had sanded, cleaned and then wiped down with xylene, that stuff stuck so well i eventually had to just sand it off with flapper wheels. I did the correct prep work on the areas where the flares where. I then took some short cuts on the prep work when i decided to cover the rest of the fender. Instead of sanding it, i just "ruffed" it up with a 3m pad, wiped it down with a towel and them rolled the durabak on. IN these areas, that stuff would peel off. I could just pop an edge and then pull, and it would peel.

I guess the moral of the story is if you prep it correctly, that stuff is going to stick. It won't rub off, peel off, or even scrap off if you rub a rock or tree.
