I am currently deployed to Okinawa. On the road recently in Naha, I saw a new Land Cruiser, but I forgot my camera at home, so I couldn't get a pic. The front end looked nothing like any of these pics. It looked like a mix of a Prado and a 100 series. It actually looked pretty good in my opinion. DAMN why did I leave my camera at home that day. Maybe it was a model not destined for the U.S.. I am gonna keep my camera more at hand from now on.

It looks like a cross of the 80 and 100 series. What is the hood scoop for? What are we looking at for a power plant on this thing? Will there ever be a diesel option? I Think it'd look much better on 35's or 36's.

Even though that is not a cruiser,the new 200 series will be available in some countries with a twin turbo V8 diesel with intercooler and the scoop is for the intercooler.
The 78/79 series with a single turbo also has the scoop
