Well, I'm officially back, even though I never left. I recently lost my beloved 95 K294 80 Series that came from Charlotte, North Carolina, due to an unforseen accident where a young driver pulled out in front of me as I was driving my son to the arcade. My son and I were fine, although heartbroken. I made a promise to him and to myself that I'd get another Land Cruiser someday.

Well that day was sooner than I thought. At first I considered an XV10 Camry, GX470, 100 Series, and 2nd gen 4Runner. Once I decided that those vehicles truly didn't speak to me, I started looking for an 80 series again. Before I knew it, I was on my way to Michigan to purchase a one family owned 94 unlocked specimen finished in 6M1. This 80 has been in Washington State all its life and it shows. I hear there's a lot of moss up there, so I felt the name was fitting. The Land Cruiser isn't perfect, but I have a vision as to how I want this to look when I'm "done" with it. I drove this rig from Michigan all the way down 180 miles to illinois. No hiccups, cruising at 70-80mph with subtle vibration but enough to get me home. Cheers!! 🍻

One of the issues I've been having. Slightly high idle. I've been led to believe it's the TPS. Maybe a corrosion issue with the spring. Other than that and the brakes, no issues driveabilty wise. Is leaking coolant. I've already ordered a Blackstone Labs kit for the first oil change. And $1,000 worth of OEM parts AND an ARB front bar to replace the damage multiplier.

One of the cosmetic things I'd like to address. This is all zip tied together. This vehicle has had two accidents, one in 2002 and one on 2009 I believe.

Maybe just check for vacuum leaks to rule that out? I'm a big fan of smoke testing.

Now you know why they call that style of brush bar a damage multiplier. That pic should go into the FAQ for new owners.

More interesting pictures. I saw the coolant leak when I bought the vehicle. Ordered v belts and spark plugs, typical beginning baseline items. I'd love to order all of the coolant hoses and determine if I should get a new radiator, thermostat, Water Pump etc. I'm thinking yeah.

Didn't think to check for vacuum leaks, I replaced all of my vacuum lines on my old 80.

I'm not 100% familiar with everything going on under here, so feel free to chime in. I do see things I didn't see or notice on my old rig. Half attempted repairs.

Definitely replace that intake boot. Probably the source of your air leaks. That could easily cause your high idle.

And the accelerator cable looks shot too.

I replaced every rubber hose, seal, o-ring, grommet, gasket, etc I could find as soon as I got my '94. The rubber gets hard with age and heat cycles.

Looks like it was glued together. It idles fine when I start it, but once I shift into drive, the idle never goes back down to normal again in that drive cycle.

I think I've read that happens when the accelerator cable binds up in the deteriorating sheath. A quick 'mud search on that might turn up more intel.

I had this happen to me. It wouldnt do it until it was hot, and then the idle would slowly creep up. It was worse on the trail when it was hot. Could put it park and was like I had my foot resting on the pedal.... just kept slowly climbing. New cable fixed it. Hasnt done it since.

Project I had this afternoon. With the help of a buddy who has helped me install my second ARB bumper. We had to wrestle it back and forth, hence the already scratched drivers side. I love the look so far. I may touch up that area with an ARB satin pen. Or buff out the scratches but not sure if that works for powder coat. Just don't want it to rust. Cheers for no damage multiplier!!

Brand new radiator installed by TCCN. New transmission coolant lines. Toyota Red coolant. I've begun to gather parts for the axle rebuild. New brake pads, rotors, birfields, wheel bearings, the works. Gave her a wash and drive her everyday now. Has one mismatched wheel. Not sure what brand it is. I have plans to put some OEM steelies on her. Different plans for this one versus my old one.
