G'day Fellas,
I thought I'd post-up some pics of a friends truck. The owner is a guy called Albert Nelson who is into his 70's and spent virtually his entire working life driving 18-wheelers across Australia.
A few years ago Ol'Alby retired. I think the prospect of not having the CB cackling away and the smell of the diesel got a little too much for him, so one day he rolled his 1976 HJ45 Landcruiser into the shed and few years later out rolled the vehicle that has become known as 'The Little Kenworth'.
The original 3.6 litre 'H' model diesel has been pitched in favour of a 6.5 litre GM turbo diesel. Now it actually drives like a Kenworth. Oh....and thanks to the snorkle and the chrome stack it also smells and sounds like one.
Alby is about to take off across Australia again. Travelling from Eastern Victoria to Alice Springs in the Northern Territory......I reckon the lure of greasey truck stop food and bad country music must of gotten the better of him.
And why would a bloke drive all the way to Alice Springs? Yep......A truckie convention. More country music and hamburgers. Now that's a big 10/4.
I hope 'The Little Kenwork' puts a smile on your face.
Cheers,
Ben
