Well, what an incredible story I have for you, my KZJ78 has been off the road for about five weeks. It all started after it would not start after I filled the tank up to the brim. For several weeks after that, it would often install only for me to put in Park and restart it again successfully. This carried on for about three or four weeks until one day, it just would not start at all. When I say it would not start, I mean it would turn over, but I wouldn’t fire. Eventually, after navigating my way through to garage in new Westminster, VANCOUVER called Japanoid, I find out that there is a crank sensor that is faulty or filling. This is causing pressure on the ECU and eventually would not start. Oh, I missed out the part where I paid some dude $350 to fix my ECU and nothing was fixed in it so that was the first $350 down the drain. About four or five days ago I got my car back from the garage. We were very good, he showed me the old crank sensor and said here was your problem, this caused your ECU to fail. I drove away as happy as could be and thought to myself, I’ll give my baby a really good car wash. So, normally I give the car a $16 car wash, automated, but thIS TIME I decided to give it the $24 car wash which includes undercarriage water sprays. Can you tell where I am going with this yet?? I go into the car wash leave the car running let the car wash do its thing and drive away. Now this is important, I did notice that my caBIN air option was on the fresh air setting. That means there’s a big flap behind the glove box that is open that allows fresh air to come in. I drive all the way home park the car in about an hour later I go out to start the car to take the dog out. Car turns over fire for about one second and then dies over and over again. I was distraught. One thing I do notice is there’s a big damp patch of water more like a lake in my passenger foot well. I start to think that the mechanic has done something, but the water is underneath the carpet. I just can’t figure it out. Eventually, I get the truck towed back to the garage on the next day. The mechanic calls me. He asks me, have you taken the car through your car wash lately I say yes. He says here’s what’s happened, whatever car wash you went in had really powerful jets underneath the car, the Jets went up through the open flap for the fresh air in the cabin and trickle down into the wiring and possibly the ECU unit. I just can’t believe it my luck. Hopefully this is all the bad luck I’ve had coming in one big heap. So as it stands, the ECU has been removed again sent away to get tested hopefully not water damaged and then they will check the wiring for any water damage. That is a pretty expensive car wash I think. If anybody has any leads on a new ECU for a case a KZJ78 I’d gladly take one off their hands for a backup. Anyways, this is definitely a lunatic asylum warning one of these cars. I do love it, but the last 456 weeks have been an absolute nightmare signing off Chris from VANCOUVER ward
