I went to GSMTR and had such a good time that I never updated the thread. So, photo dump.

The Crasin broke on Friday. I limped it back to camp with no brake fluid in the rear circuit or reservoir thanks to a rusted brake line to the LSPV that popped. I could also only make right turns, so it was an interesting drive down the mountain. Since then I’ve fixed the brakes, and I’ll be dealing with the steering soon. The plan is to take it to the UC annual, and then on another wheeling trip in November. I’ve also been thinking about making a day trip down to the gulches to have some fun on a real shakedown.

Plans to leave Thursday 11-18-21 for windrock. I guess I better finally fix my steering. I swapped out the leaking box, and replaced the whining pump with a rebuilt one. Now replacing trunion bearings with some that don’t have pieces of broken birf jammed in them.

Also had a fun time removing this “bolt” from the back of the knuckle with the felt and rubber.

As GSMTR approaches, the Crasin has been drug out of the weeds and back in the shop. 1 week until departure seems like adequate time to fix problems and make an upgrade or 2. As of now, it’s in the shop (under its own power) and the tires/wheels have been swapped out for some 39.5x13.5 Iroks on 17x9 steel wheels. The to do list before next Sunday…

Drivers front brake caliper
Weld exhaust back on
Clearance sheet metal for big tires - aka have fun hacking and smashing
Bolt storage box to rear floor
“Patch” fuel filler vent line
Replace trailer tire (has a nail in it)

Your tail light looks out. :geek:

More progress prepping for GSMTR. Don’t worry about how scetchy it was or wasn’t. Quarters have clearance for 40s, and surprise surprise, the front has no issues. Apparently we did plenty of cutting there the first time around. Then I got to take it for a mini test run through the woods. I did a little more decorating last night with more stickers. I just can’t help myself with this thing.

Oh my god the Muppet. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Love you bud. I forever speak truths.

As of now I’ve welded the exhaust. Even welded the hanger on this time. I’ve also done the sheet metal clearance mod in the rear, which brings up new issues. The left rear hits the fuel filler tube under full flex. The vent tube that runs with it already has a hole rusted in it. Do I ignore the rubbing issue and carry on? Maybe remove the filler neck, cut it down and cut a hole in the floor for access?

Holes in the vent tube is not a good thing. Don't want gas pouring out.

How bad does the tire rub? Hard into it? Would suck to rip it off the truck and have gas slosh out.

It really only rubs under full flex. I’m hoping to do something about it tomorrow. If I don’t, I’ll be bringing supplies with me to do some hacking at camp.
