that's one of the oldest scams out there. i bet he's from another continent, correct?! run, do not walk. unless somebody is willing to bring cash or send you a cashier's check from a MAJOR bank in the USA, do not go for it. otherwise you're gonna be out two rare rigs and a bunch of money........

i still say keep the green one stock and build up the other one for wheeling. best of both LV worlds! :grinpimp:

I have gotten to the point where I don't even accept cashier's checks anymore unless I can wait till they clear. BTW, they don't clear for about 2 weeks.

I received a fake cashier's check once, it was VERY scary. I took it to the bank and the teller actually said that it was odd looking. It was drawn on a Bank of America account. She told me not to deposit it because if it was fake, I could be charged for insufficient funds, ($35) I called the Bank of America in Connecticut and they told me it was definitely fake as they had no record of the serial # and that amount. I called the guy who sent me the check and told him that he was a fraud. He told me to F@#K OFF!

So......I then went to the local FBI and filled out a report. They told me that it was probably next to impossible to catch him as he had not taken the vehicle from me. I am sure they shoved the report in a folder somewhere and POOF..........never to be seen again. They did tell me that I was very fortunate to have caught the fake cashier's check and that the guy did not get my vehicle.

Actually, what was even scarier is that before I got the check, he had already lined up a shipper to come get the truck. The check would not have had ample time to clear and my truck would have been gone and I would have no money and......I would have paid $35 in uncleared check funds!

You know, the more I think about it, I should really do something nice for that bank teller!

Be careful out there. I take cash or direct wire transfer or...... as a last resort I will wait the 2 weeks or so for that cashier's check to clear before I release the vehicle.
