Tepui Tents (whom I have really enjoyed working with in the past). Is releasing a new tent: a Ayer. Personally, a prefer something with a but more space. What do other people think?
Small enough to mount 2 on an 80...
But then you'd probably buy a bigger tent for that anyway...
Or maybe not. A small tent like the Ayer could share space on a full length rack with other goods.
And for small vehicles, it would be ideal.
I'll bet it won't be a best seller, but it will be ideal for some. It's cool to see little trucks getting some love, expedition style.
anyway, one feature that may be attractive is a tent that is narrow enough that it'll fit between high rails on a roof rack and may open to the back, say. So with minor modification to a rack you could have the best of both worlds: high rails and a lower tent. This may do that.
Personally, I'd like a narrower tent that would not be way too large for a solo traveler cuz I still need a lot of room up there for other stuff.
It is on the small side indeed. 7' long open. And only 39" high.
I just bought an Ayer (after finding out about it on this thread). I was looking for something smaller that wouldn't take up my entire roof. With the extended Thule cross-bars, I still have (some) room to attach a bike rack. It's a little tight inside but it's something I'm happy to put up with in exchange for the roof rack versatility. I can post a picture when I think about it next....
cool... but i think if you are going to work on making them smaller, which is great, try to work on the hinge system so you can make them more low profile.
