After getting home tonight with the engine idling I noticed the temperature gauge briefly dropped for about a second before going back up to operating temperature. My immediate fear was that might be gas in the coolent system but I don't think I could see any evidence of that in the expansion tank. Following that I was thinking of replacing the sensor to check if that was at fault. Anyone had anything similar or have any advice on things to check?
Also I have been thinking about fitting a second coolant or oil temperature sensor for some time but haven't got round to it so this is possibly my motivator.
