I just used my new Techstream software and cable to program a new key on my 2003 UZJ100 (transponder key purchased for $129 from my local guys here: http://trdparts4u.toyotaofdallas.com/Scripts/default.asp) , but only got the immobilizer programming done. New key will start the truck.
Does anyone know the steps to program the key fob portion (wireless locking), using Techstream?
Gave up on Techstream for the fob programming, tried this again, and finally got this to work:
Program Remote: FSM sequence I – (2003+)
Start with the key out of the ignition, drivers door is open all others closed and drivers door is unlocked.
Within 5 seconds;
Insert the key into the ignition(Do NOT Turn)
Pull key out.
Insert the key into the ignition(Do NOT Turn)
Pull key out.
Within 40 seconds;
Close then open the drivers door.
Close then open the drivers door.
Insert the key into the ignition(Do NOT Turn)
Pull key out.
Within 40 seconds;
Close then open the drivers door.
Close then open the drivers door.
Insert the key into ignition and leave it in ignition.
Close the drivers door.
Turn the ignition to ON (Do NOT Start) then back to OFF.
Remove the key from the ignition.
Within 3 seconds of completing the steps above the power door locks should lock then unlock automatically. This indicates successful entry into programming mode. Return to step 1 above if the locks do not cycle.
To accept a remote transmitter perform these steps within 40 seconds.
Press the lock and unlock buttons on the remote simultaneously for 1.5 seconds.
Immediately after letting go of the lock and unlock buttons, Press the lock button by itself and hold for 2 seconds.
Within 3 seconds, the door locks should lock and then unlock once indicating successful programming. If the door locks cycle twice, repeat steps 1 and 2 as the remote was not accepted.
Open the drivers door. Test new remote functions.
Now everything works like new. I had the key cut there at the dealer using my VIN, so it's just as Mr. Yota intended on its birthday. No charge for that. All in all, not a bad deal. I think I had to pay $300 for a new, programmed transponder key when we first got the truck and the PO only provided one.
I did the same on my 2003: Use techstream to program the immobilizer (add key to ECU), and go through the manual process to program the remote function. Took a couple of tries, but it did work.
You need to have the correct transponder for the year. The 60010 is the 3D transponder for 98-02 and the 60140 is the 4D transponder for 03+
I found this helpful when programming the immobilizer (says remote programming, but is actually programming the immobilizer):
