Hello

I am trying to get an idea of roof-top tents.

Is there anyone in the San Diego area who has a Technitop Tent? Or does anyone know somebody with a Technitop that I would see?

Thanks in advance!

just wanted to post some updated information. African Outback purchased Technitop Tents in South Africa some time ago. We are the distributor for Technitop tents in the US and will be carrying the tents as well as spares in the future. Some of the concerns of the old tents are addressed in the new designs.

Here is a link to the pages of the brochure. They are not on our site yet since we do not have landed cost calculated yet, but we are shipping a container in Nov 06 for delivery, hopyefully before Christomas. We do have tents, awnings, shower curtains and other parts coming in the container.

Just thought you guys might want to know.

Links. Sorry files are rather big, but working on that.

Thanks.

Christo I talked to Ben on Thursday. I am just hoping to see one in person before commiting.

Someone should have one at Surf-n-Turf.

If I only hadn't moved to Texas you could have checked out mine at Surf n Turf.

Christo what changes have they addressed in the new models? The PDF links aren't working for me.

Derek,

I know the "new" ones have a moonroof.

Also, Christo, in the second pdf. It looks as if the mattress is an air mattress. Is this the case with all of them?

It was very comfortable up there in the rain... if only we hadn't needed to put it away in the rain. Not so much fun. I recently learned that the case doesn't fair to well in the rain by itself. Rain gets in where the clam shell meets, which is why one should put the second soft cover over the hard cover when rain and dust are going to be involved. With the second cover on dust and water stay out.

So what did they change about the mounting system and do you think it could be retrofitted? I like the air matress idea... it would make it easier to store items in the tent while folded up.
