I've been perusing the TDI swap threads but haven't found one yet where someone mated the original H41/42 or H55 to the TDI. Performance Adapters makes a plate for this but I need some more information...
I don't have an engine currently in my 1982 Troopy; consequently I need a bell housing and clutch assembly to go with the TDI. I've got both H41 and H42 trannies. I'm trying to figure out which components I'd need to acquire to make swap this happen. I've got access to both F and 2F bell housings locally, also probably the clutch assembly from an F. Somewhere along the research journey I believe I saw someone using an aftermarket clutch assembly, some modern high performance thing, but I can't find it now. If anyone knows about such things please educate me!
For those that might have gone this route:
F or 2F bell housing?
F or 2F clutch assembly, or aftermarket?
If someone has an alternate transmission recommendation with the TDI I'd be interested in hearing about that too. I've ready the "Ivy" thread that uses the NVxxx jeep tranny.
Thanks!
