TC Case Question (1 Viewer)

Which TC would I want to use for the following scenerios given either a 1971 FJ40 TC or a 1976 FJ40 TC:

1. Behind a 700r4 Tranny (1972 Stock axles), and want to roll down the highway with comfortable SBC RPMs @ 70 mph?

2. Behind a 700r4 Tranny (1972 Stock axles)and do not care about going any faster than 60 MPH on highway, but want good crawl speed?

Both cases have a 1:1 top gear.


A 1971 case will have a 2.313 low range

A 1976 case will have a 1.99 low range

With your advise I tracked down Kurt @ Criuser Outfitters. He found the gear to make a later box mate to a course input shaft. As dumb luck would have it my buddy showed up with an early box this evening. I was curious which box I should put in. Nice to have a back-up either way though.
